"Jesus Calling" Days 4-8

I have been busy and distracted lately and I have not had a chance to post about my readings. So I thought I would combined several days in summary. I find that it is all connected in some way.

Day 4:

"I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory." Psalm 63:2


"See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and He rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young." Isaiah 40:10-11


"Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast." Psalm 139:7-10

"I trust You, Jesus." These are words that fill our souls and strengthen our spirit. If we trust in God and believe in the depth of His love and guidance we can't go wrong. Turning to God in times of need, heartache, sadness or even joy will strengthen our relationship with Him and give us peace in life. We all have things that are difficult to deal with whether it be physical or emotional. Sometimes we find these obstacles hard to understand and we question God. I know I am guilty of those questions. We must remember that God is our guide and as long as we trust in him we can overcome any obstacle. I think it would be a great idea to say every morning before we start our day, "I trust You, Jesus!" Let Him be your guide......

Day 5

"The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:17-18


"For we live by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7

I believe I have said this before, but society today bases success on how much money we make, what kind of car we drive, what kind of house we live and so on and so on.......True success is loving and trusting in God. Following Him as he guides us through this life. God knows our hearts and our dreams. They may sometimes seem impossible, but if we can leave it with Him it will happen. Just be patient and trust that he has a plan. I personally think that true success and happiness also comes from your family. The relationships we build with our family and with God will give us more pleasure in life and any material items ever could. These are words to remember, my friends!

Day 6

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21
"The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace." Romans 8:6


"Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:30-31


"Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” Revelation 5:13


My reading for this day spoke of having "positive expectations" which is something I struggle with from time to time. I am not a pessimistic person, but I do tend to try not to get my hopes up. Tough sometimes I have a hard time being positive when there are things that I do not understand or cannot control (such as having a baby). I may never understand, and maybe I am not meant to.......I have, over the years, taught myself to keep my expectations low so that I do not get hurt or disappointed. Being realistic is what I call it! In this reading I have learned that it is OK to be positive, and not to get discouraged if things don't happen right away. Boy this journey is really showing me that my patience needs A LOT of work. Patience and trust is what this all comes down to. I have let my worries and doubts take the lead at times and I intend on changing that way of thinking. With God there is no doubt! There were two phrases in this reading that really stood out to me. "Time is a trainer, teaching you to wait upon Me, to trust Me in the dark." and "Keep your mind open and eye to all He is doing in your life." That says it all.....

 Day 7
 
"Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises." Psalm 22:3
 
"Praise the LORD, my soul. I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live." Psalm 146:1-2


"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18

So often we forget to give thanks to God for all that we have been blessed with in life. We must show our love, trust and thanks to Him everyday. Take a moment each day to look around at all your blessings. Whether they are big or small they are blessing!

Day 8


"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1


"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." Romans 12:12


"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

Hope. This is something that we based life around. No matter what comes your way if you have hope and give your burdens to God you will be protected.

    It is such a blessing to me to see God at work in your life! Please continue to let Him open His word to your heart and life. And you are so right we need to count our blessings everyday for we are such a blessed people and never forget to praise God for His goodness in our lives! Love you!

  2. In my walk right now, I am also trying to be more attentive to the blessings (big and small) in my life. It's so easy to just miss them, but if we take the time to open our eyes---we will realize just how blessed we are. When we think about how good He is, we will be filled with joy.

    I also love what you said about patience and trust. Here is a verse I found recently that I think you could relate too as well:

    "But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me." Micah 7:7
