Baby Lankford

This past Thursday I had my first official visit with my OB at St. Francis OBGYN Associates. Unfortunetly, Tricare will not allow me to use Lee OBGYN in Opelika even though I have been using them for about eight years now. Crazy and annoying and rediculous!!!!! Moving on........I will be having the little one at St Francis in Columbus, GA.  The visit went well and our little girl looks healthy and weighs about 10 ounces. They verified my due date as being February 16th. We got this shot of her before she decided that we were annoying her. She roled over and tucked her feet under her bottom and would NOT budge! Either she is shy or just plain stubborn! We will soon find out. I think next time I might drink a little caffeine before going for my ultrasound. Maybe she will be a little more active........

After long discussions and several options put on (and taken off) the table we finally decided on a name for our little girl. Cameron was not on board with this name at first, but he finally caved and agreed to let me name her what I have been wanting since before I got pregnant. Our final decision for this precious gift from God is.......................Annabelle Grace Lankford.

New Orleans

For a while now I have wanted to visit New Orleans, Louisiana. Well, I got my chance last week thanks to Cameron and his recruiting team's hard work this past fiscal year. As a reward for being the top team in Alabama the guys won a trip courtesy of the government. How lucky is that!?!?! We spent five days in New Orleans last week and had a wonderful time! We stayed at the J.W. Marriott on Canal Street.

Our room and view.

On Tuesday we visited the French Market and walked and walked and walked. We also visited the aquarium which was a great relief from the heat not to mention I was sooooo tired and needed a break!

Lunch at Coop's. Cameron had jambalaya and I had etouffee.

The French Market has lots of venders with various items for sale and a few places to buy food.

Then after a little shopping and lots of walking we took a break at Cafe Du Monde. The Beignets were yummy!!!!

The aquarium was interesting to walk through, but the best part was the air conditioning! LOL!

For dinner that night we decided to walk to Nola (one of Emeril's restaurants) and lets just say it was unbelievably good! We started with a fabulous crab cake with a slightly sweet, but spicy sauce. Cameron had a rib eye over roasted potatoes in a reduced duck sauce. I had buttermilk fried chicken with bourbon mashed sweet potatoes and sugar snap peas. To end our night, as if we needed more food, we had profiteroles. It was so good that we almost went back for another meal, but we decided to try something else instead.

On Wednesday we visited the World War II museum. It was very interesting and very sad to see what all of these men and women went through during the war. We got to watch a short 4D film prior to walking through the museum showing how the war began through the end. The soldiers had so much less to work with than we do these days. It is amazing what people are willing to sacrifice for the love of their country, home and family.

On Thursday we had lunch at Mother's resturant and then we decided to venture out of New Orleans. Cameron discovered a Cabela's store in Gonzales, LA and it was a must that we go check it out. It was not bad. We spent a while walking around the store and trying on hunting jackets. I found the many different stuffed animals very intersting. They had animals that I had never heard of and several familiar faces. As luck would have it, there was a Tanger outlet complex right across the street! It was not as big as Foley, but it was good enough. We found two potential coming home outfits for the baby and several other items that I could not resist! I find that I have a really hard time stopping myself when it comes to baby items. I just want to by it all because it is sooooo cute! Cameron cut me off though........We had dinner at the Bon Ton Cafe, but I did not have my camera handy that night so no pics. It was very good, but not as great as Nola. After four great days in New Orleans Friday morning was upon us and it was time to come home. It was a good thing because I was tired and ready for my own cozy bed. Thank goodness we had two days to recover before it was back to the daily grind! Until next time!
